01. Who is eligible to apply for the SINDA Community Impact Fund?

Any individual (Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident) or a group of individuals or a Singapore-based incorporation, who has an innovative solution that addresses social issues and impacts the Singaporean Indian community (though not exclusively), is eligible to participate in the SINDA Community Impact Fund (SCIF).

The Applicant should be 18 years of age or above
02. How do you select Grantees?

All applications received will be evaluated by the SCIF Grant’s Committee.

Applicants will go through two (2) rounds of evaluation:

Preliminary Round (Online) – Applicants need to introduce their solution concept(s) in English, within the specified word limit.

Final Round (online) – Shortlisted Applicants (Finalists) will be requested to provide a detailed project proposal in English within two (2) weeks after clearing the Preliminary Round, as per the template provided by SINDA.

Applications will be evaluated based on how well a proposed concept can address the identified social issue and the feasibility, viability and any other considerations. Please refer to Question 6 for additional details on evaluation criteria.

Successful/unsuccessful Applicants will be notified via email. Note: SINDA reserves the right of discretion and non-disclosure of reasons for unsuccessful applications. Decisions made by SINDA are final, and appeals will not be entertained.
03. Can I email or post my application?
No, emailed or posted applications will not be accepted. The only way to apply for SCIF is
to submit the electronic application through the following LINK
04. What could cause my application to be eliminated from consideration?
​Applicants need to adhere to the SCIF’s Terms and Conditions on the SINDA Grants website (www.sinda-grants.org/scif). SINDA will not consider applications that are incomplete (e.g. missing any of the required documentation, documents that are incomplete, etc.).
If a grant application submitted to SINDA is incomplete or has information missing, the applicant may be contacted by SINDA and asked for further information or documentation.
An applicant will be provided with up to five (5) working days to submit the relevant information/documentation. If the information is not provided within this time, SINDA will then make a determination on the eligibility status of the application and may reject the application. Rejected applications will not be reviewed / considered for funding.
05. What is the maximum grant amount?
The maximum grant that can be availed under this funding is SGD 25,000.00
06. What are the criteria used to evaluate Grant applications?
The submitted applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:

Relevance of proposed solutions to the Singaporean Indian community needs, such as education, family bonding and youth resilience.

Clear articulation of desired outcomes and impact evidence, oriented towards the Singaporean Indian community issues or problems.

Target Audience reach and engagement.

Innovative value of the project.

Credentials of organisation/individual (including demonstration of good planning and sound budgeting). Grant Applicants should demonstrate good standing and solvency (when required), capacity to manage funds, conduct and document project activities and outcomes effectively in a planned and time-bound manner; and

Potential for growth/further development of the Indian community.
07. Are there certain types of projects not eligible for SCIF funding?
Below listed projects (included, but not limited to) are not eligible for funding:

Applications that do not address the Singaporean Indian community’s related problems and issues.

Projects that are exclusively comprised of conferences, seminars, workshops and educational, electronic or print publishing, e.g., newsletters, magazines, journals, reports, books, development of websites/web pages are generally not funded (Exceptions apply on case to case basis).

Events for the sole purpose of fund-raising, charity show, anniversary celebrations.

Overseas training courses & study tours.

Applications that do not adhere to SINDA’s stipulated deadlines.

Request for funding for religious activities for the promotion of a certain religion.

Request for funding for political activities for the promotion of a certain political ideology or party.
08. What do you consider innovative?
We look for projects that have the potential to generate positive and sustainable social impact and promote the advancement of the Singapore Indian Community. Though we like to see bold decisions and inventive ideas, we appreciate them even more when they are positioned to minimise risk and maximise viability.
09. When exactly is the Grant funds disbursed?
All approved projects will receive the funding amount in two tranches, first tranche will be
released after the signing of Funding agreement and final tranche will be released after the
approval of the submitted final technical reports and final Statement of Accounts.
10. What type of contract/agreement do we have to sign to receive the funding?
We look for projects that have the potential to generate positive and sustainable social impact and promote the advancement of the Singapore Indian Community. Though we like to see bold decisions and inventive ideas, we appreciate them even more when they are positioned to minimise risk and maximise viability.
11. What kind of reporting is expected from Grant recipients?
Successful recipients of the Grant are required to provide technical and financial (interim and final) reports using templates provided by SINDA. The final reports must be submitted at the completion of the project and no longer than thirty (30) days after the project activities have finished.

All reports are subject to approval by SINDA and the final tranche of funds will be released
after the submitted reports are approved in writing by SINDA.
